Music Credits for "Welcome to Wales" DVD:

Music Selections from “Emynau I Bawb”, “Hymns for Everyone” Performed by the famous Welsh, Male Voice Choir, Côr Meibion Rhôs Cwmtawe.

Translations and descriptions below were given by Rhidian Griffiths from National Library of Wales, in Aberystwyth.

Welsh Hymns in play order:

1. Sanctus is Latin, meaning 'Holy' (the equivalent Welsh word, which appears in the hymn is 'Sanctaidd'.

2. Laudamus is Latin, meaning 'We praise.'

3. Y Delyn Aur is 'The Golden Harp.'

4. Mor Fawr Wyt Ti is 'How Great Thou Art.'

5. Christus Redemptor is Latin for 'Christ [the] Redeemer.'

6. Gwahoddiad means 'Invitation' or 'Call.'

7. Llanfair is a place name. There are many places called Llanfair in Wales, because it denotes 'the church of (i.e. dedicated to) Mary'; in this particular case it probably refers to Llanfair yng Nghornwy on the island of Anglesey, near where the composer Robert Williams lived.

8. Bryn Myrddin means 'Myrddin's Hill' - I believe in this case it was the name of a house; Myrddin is the Welsh equivalent of Merlin.

9. Arwelfa was the name of the home of the composer John Hughes in Rhosllannerchrugog. 'Arwel' is a person's name, and 'Arwelfa' would probably be translated as 'Arwel's place' or 'Arwel's house.'
